Study of the tool path generation method for an ultra-precision spherical complex surface based on a five-axis machine tool

The improvement of ultra-precision machining technology has significantly boosted the demand for surface quality and accuracy workpieces to be machined. However, geometric shapes workpiece surfaces cannot adequately manufactured with simple plane, cylindrical, or spherical because their different applications in various fields. In this research, a method was proposed generate tool paths complex based on an ultra-precise five-axis turning milling machine C-Y-Z-X-B structure. Through path generation method, achieved. First, model modeled calculated, then it combined designed path. Then were generated numerically controlled (NC) program. Based three-coordinate measuring instrument white light interferometer, characterized, effectiveness verified. roughness machined less than 90 nm. Furthermore, within region appeared 30 presented research produced surfaces. could applied other characteristics.
